Last week, emerging London-based artist iKeda released the hazy, technicolour music video for her upbeat single ‘Go!’. Blending nostalgic electropop synths with dancehall foundations, iKeda crafts a fresh summer sound that demands to be danced to. 

iKeda describes ‘Go!’ as “a manifestation song” and it’s not hard to see why. With the self-assured refrain “I got swagger” and the track born out of imagining “walking through a grey world and bringing it back to life with color”, ‘Go!’ is the self-confidence anthem from the lyrically professed “dancehall queen” that you need in your life. 

Born and raised in London, iKeda draws on the city’s thriving underground pop scene and her Jamaican heritage to engineer a unique sound that fuses genres. As a graduate of the prestigious yet infamously cool art school Central Saint Martins, iKeda has established an authentic artistic presence of her own working in an interdisciplinary manner across painting, design, music and performance.

This expansive aesthetic sensibility is evident in the track’s cinematic visuals. Shot in Jamaica and directed by long-time collaborator Erika Kamano, the music video for ‘Go!’ combines vivid, surreal imagery with precise choreography. Sandy beaches and green vistas overlaid with vibrant, multi-coloured light make up the sparkling love letter to “the country’s vibrancy” that iKeda envisioned it to be.

‘Go!’ is the first taste of iKeda’s forthcoming sophomore EP “Bangs N Braces” which encapsulates the sound she’s been building towards and has dubbed bubble riddim. To be released in late August, her upcoming project further explores the legacy of garage, dancehall and UK club music whilst mixing them with a modern, electronic edge.

Having already gained traction supporting PinkPantheress on tour and collaborating with fellow London artist Babymorocco, 2026 is set to be iKeda’s year. The undeniable danceability of ‘Go!’ cements her upcoming project on our radar.
