To serve the eyes of women (Venus Scribbles)

“Through creating art I aim to create paintings of women that don’t serve the male gaze, and instead intend to serve the eyes of women. I have created and studied art from an early age and as my artistic skill developed, so did my understanding of the art industry. An industry which is centred around the experiences and desires of straight white men who aim only to view women in an objective fashion. I grew tired of images of women as vapid, empty vessels and found myself drawn to creating images of fictional women who have personality and respective stories. In short, women created for women. I invite the viewers of my paintings to imagine the subjects’ universe, dreams and ideals or even seek themselves in the characters.”
