There are a few key staples that have made Friday the effervescent joy that it is, as we prepare ourselves to launch into another weekend, and New Music Friday’s is one of them.
Not only is May and June the best time of the year, springing us into summer (get it), but the pop girlies, the DJs, and the return of a favourite rapper are now blessing us too.
- (Self-Titled), Addison
- See our review of the Louisiana native’s successful rebrand here.
- ENOCH, GoldLink
- The rapper of club beat persuasion has returned following his 2021 album that had listeners torn, waiting four years to drop another LP instead of the usual two year hiatus. It’s certainly worth the wait – both with young adults begging for club culture to return in post-pandemic years, and with the hip hop scene leaving us starved. Honourable mentions go to GLOCK HEAVY, MOORPHEUS, METATRON, SHOTTI, AVENTADOR and NEW BOO.
- Oh Lala, Justine Skye, Kaytranada
- A sensational mix of beats, all around fun, pop R&B and club heaven made – here’s hoping for more of Justine Skye.
- My Girl, Ama
- Ama’s back (popularised as the British Zendaya when she dropped Same old Ways) and she sounds as glossy as ever. Ama’s vocals are a husky, silky R&B delight – all she needs is a good beat and she’ll deliver.
- On Sum – MPH Remix, TOKiMONSTA, MPH, Anderson. paak, Rae Khalil
- After the richoceting beat kicks in, the track truly begins. Armed with soulful croons from Anderson. paak, and enviable rhythmic variations on top of a summer-inspired bassline, MPH’s remix is made for summer 2025.
- BOSS BABIES, Theodora, bb trickz
- After Charli XCX introduced us to the Spanish rapper bb trickz our music jam sessions have forever changed – take a listen to be transported to a fiesta.
- ROLLERCOASTER, MARINA
- “I wanna swim topless in the ocean / Have sex on the sand, on the grass, in the garden / Spread me like a picnic on the floor in the forest”
- Give Me Love, Miley Cyrus
- An enchanting closing track on Cyrus’s latest LP, fit for yearners. Once she’s ‘Reborn’ in the penultimate track, she’s ready to receive love, repeatedly crooning the simple yet weighted request.
