Global Fashion Collective (GFC) presented its F/W’25 runway show during London’s fashion week in collaboration with Fashion Scout. Presenting Canadian and Finnish designers, the collective highlighted outstanding creativity and boundary-pushing within contemporary womenswear.

Both Alex S. Yu and Tara Kari displayed their understanding of womenswear as more than an outfit, but as a vessel of self-expression for both designers and their wearers. Using daring silhouettes and flowing fabrics as a storytelling medium, GFCxLondon’s designers took their audience on a narrative journey of their relationships with human existence and high-powered emotions, through meticulously crafted womenswear.

ALEX S. YU: Contrasting Past and Future through Delicate Silhouettes and Bold Proportions

Continuing the celebration of his 10 year anniversary, Alex S. Yu’s showcase in London for his F/W’25 collection “Interlude 3688” marked a triumphant victory tour of the designer’s accomplishments. A London College of Fashion alum with a graduate degree in womenswear and technology, Yu’s mastery of craftsmanship and innovation shines through in his cutting-edge designs. Born in Taiwan and raised in Canada, he has spent the past decade redefining contemporary fashion with his signature fusion of innovation and wearability.

Yu’s “Interlude 3688” collection signified an important milestone in Yu’s design journey by delving deeper into the narrative of uncertainty in our modern and unsettled world, a concept Yu examined in his 10th anniversary collection. Blurring the lines between memory and imagination, “Interlude 3688” reflected on our past that never was while defining a vision for our future to be. 

Contrasting soft, fragile silhouettes with bold, disrupted proportions, the collection expressed the tension between nostalgia and anticipation, fragility and resilience. Notable motifs through the collection were iridescent fabrics, sheer ruffled garments, plaid, gingham, and soft sculptural embellishments resembling abstract flowers. The grand finale on the catwalk featured all 20 models in a formation with Alex himself at the front, celebrating the designer’s excellence and achievements from his decade-long relationship with fashion.

TARA KARI: Finnish Haute-Couture and RTW Designer debuts collection inspired by outrage 

Introducing Tari Kari – an eponymous womenswear haute couture, RTW and accessories label from the Finnish designer. Developing since 2019 and establishing its base in London, the Tara Kari brand creates designs for the modern woman – exuding powerful femininity through sensual yet edgy pieces. Integrating specialised textiles and fabric manipulations serving as the foundation for intricate print designs and delicate embroidery executions, Tara Kari embraces creativity and craftsmanship by employing cutting-edge methods to elevate each of her pieces, resulting in unique and sophisticated creations.

Poised against a fiery display on the runway, Kari’s “OUTRAGED” collection was a visceral expression of intense yet suppressed emotions that arise when life’s pressures and societal expectations pull you in too many directions – pent-up anger simmering beneath the surface, waiting for release. Mirroring an emotional outburst no longer able to be contained, the collection features structured yet fractured silhouettes, symbolizing internal restraint breaking free, and layers of textured fabrics, contrasting rigid and fluid materials, capturing the sensation of anxiety and the burning heat of repressed feelings. Utilizing deep crimson tones, nudes, and textured black, Kari’s F/W’25 collection incorporated exaggerated puffers, unconventional knitwear silhouettes, and a signature Kari touch of unique accessories, complete with rope encircled boots and wine-carrying handbags. 

The “OUTRAGED” collection invites you to wear your fury unapologetically, embracing the beauty in confronting and expressing your truth.
