After going through the discs of our best albums of 2024, we’re trying something new for our maximalist selves to wittle down: our top songs of the year 2024. Here’s 18 (and a few others from the same artist) to glean your ears to:

These tracks were the standouts on the album Born in the Wild, showing Tems embrace her RnB persona with heavy emphasis on the rhythmic beats.
- Beyoncé, II HANDS II HEAVEN; SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’

The cowgirl of the year brought it home for us with the Beyoncé Bowl on Christmas Day – all while incorporating Parris Goebel’s Buckiin’ dance, need we say more.
- Lil Yachty, A Cold Sunday

On. Repeat. Since its release, this song has been utterly insatiable – a stand out, stand alone masterpiece that went platinum in my eardrums.

What Charli did with these two albums last year needs to be studied.
- Kendrick Lamar, Not Like Us; tv off

Again, the biggest moments of the year. Kendrick was on the top of his diss track game, having everybody dancing to Drake’s demise in summer – then he hit a home run with the surprise drop of GNX in the winter.
- Future, Metro Boomin’, Kendrick Lamar, Like That

This has been a permanent fixture in my gym/feelgood playlist – it goes hard from start to finish and is part of the Drake diss saga too.
- Clairo, Juna

What a dreamy song – Clairo did her big one with Juna on her softer, folk-esque album from last year. A suitable return from her Girl, big indie days that went platinum in my household.
- 21 Savage, Brent Faiyaz, should’ve wore a bonnet

One of my top songs of 2024, from Brent Faiyaz’s strong honey-soaked vocals to 21 Savage’s cadence and the classic beats. The track deserves to be even bigger than it is — the chorus, the harmonies, the breaths.
- Doechii, Nissan Altima

Doechii made this year her own – from her live performances to her LP drop, Tiny Desk concert and music video skits. This was one of the main songs that elevated her superstardom even further with a recognisable flow and talent that the music industry needed.
- Olivia Rodrigo, So American (2024 deluxe)

The GUTS deluxe kept giving last year, making Olivia Rodrigo’s sophmore album continue on its high with the irresistable guitar strum and lovestruck lyricism of So American.
- JADE, Angel Of My Dreams

This was a stellar debut single as a solo artist from JADE, formerly from the UK girl group Little Mix. She did the unexpected, as she sought out to do, and it worked – it made me listen again, and again, and again.
- Fred Again, Anderson .paak, places to be

Oh to be at a festival with this song playing — or a Fred Again gig at all.
- Billie Eilish, CHIHIRO

The beat is everything on this track that makes it unforgettable. Billie Eilish is very good at her craft.
- SiR, Isaiah Rashad, KARMA

Up next in the buttery smooth vocals (see: Brent Faiyaz, Frank Ocean), is SiR. He shines on this track which I luckily got to see live at DLT The Recipe festival, also named after one of SiR’s songs.
- Ethel, Availability

This track is extremely underrated, but after Ethel Nass’s viral hit with Andromeda, I’m expecting her other tracks to take off. The funk in this song in particular is too sweet, filling that The Internet/Steve Lacy/Syd shaped hole in our hearts.
- Artemas, I like the way you kiss me; how could u love somebody like me?

TikTok knows how to find and promote good tracks and artists with Artemas being one of them. These songs would not go amiss in a heated party or romance scene in old Gossip Girl episodes.
- Bryson Tiller, Whatever She Wants

The lyrics should be framed on a mood board frankly.
- Addison Rae, Diet Pepsi

This is one for the girls – Addison Rae tapped into BRAT and her Lana (Del Rey) bag for 2024 and we’re here for it.
