Since 2020 (as a lockdown project), I’ve been food blogging all my foodie adventures from a finsta account documenting my veganism over the last, now, nearly seven years. I started with backlogging all my foodie pictures from fun places I visited during my time at the University of Warwick and throughout living in Royal Leamington Spa, to Leeds, to my move from home in Nottinghamshire to London.

I’ve visited countless vegan places in London in the last three years, but none of them hit quite as well as these. Here are my favourite London vegan restaurants, that aren’t vegan junk food hotspots.

Vegan Planet – Camden

100/10 for @veganplanetcamden, the all vegan Chinese (sorry to Tofu Vegan, we all thought this one was insanely slept on, and once again the vegan London book recommendations never fails)!
Just craved vegan fish and this sliced fish in sizzling chilli oil was *insane*, it tasted just like how we make it in Zambia and home, off the bone – the taste and appearance here are so exact it’s unreal. We all had special fried rice (for once with no eggs, of course) and Cecily had the beef in black bean sauce, while Maya had one of the chicken kung pao with peanuts dish. It was all amazing and we definitely want to go back to try the rest and even the pecking duck option. 🥡🥡🥡

Mallow – Borough, London Bridge

Last year, I found @mildredsrestaurants sister restaurant in #boroughmarketlondon @mallowlondon 🌱💜. I had the chick’n burger from the updated big plates menu (not the buttermilk one, but one with buffalo sauce minus the sauce, though, as that’s too hot for me) with slaw, the best added melted cheese and a brioche bun with fries I couldn’t finish. Cecily had a rainbow paté meal which looked delicious and we both had the prickly pear & apple martini 🍸 off the cocktail menu because I thought it would be sweet & different, and as a nice surprise it came out with a picture printed floating on top that was so cute 👼. Definitely one of my new favourite spots that’s not in the vegan junk food range but a whole plant-based restaurant atmosphere.

I recently went back this year and had the lovely pastry ‘burnt aubergine muhammara borek, green tabbouleh, baba ganoush cream, ezme’ dish. The white ganoush cream underneath the tabbouleh was too gorgeous. The lychee cocktails had changed so slightly appearance-wise, so the floating print of Borough market is no longer on the top of them, but they still looked as pretty as ever – and tasted even better.

Jam Delish – Angel, Islington

In the same week that I tried Tendril, I tried the wonderful booked up, all vegan Caribbean @jam.delish in Angel 📍It’s the best vegan fried chicken – it’s on par with Temple of Seitan which is insanely good and you can’t tell is vegan. The options are so good, we want to go back to try more – I’d love to try the curry goat and codfish main plates too – Cedily had the fish one pictured. The smoothies with the ginger kick are so good too that it felt like alcohol. The decor is so lovely it’s like being in a shisha bar instead of a vegan restaurant – definitely a game changer for vegan restaurants 💚
The staff are so lovely, they let us sit there for ages until they closed, just talking without having to order more things which is blessed in London. 🌱 (I’ve also posted this in a Google review of the place. ✨)
